8th Grade Computers Science Discoveries
Length of Class: One Quarter (9 Weeks)
Course Description:
Students will be using the code.org Computer Science Discoveries curriculum to complete an introductory course on Computer Science. The course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as programming, physical computing, HTML/CSS, and data. Students engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun. The course inspires students as they build their own websites, apps, and games.

0% Pre-Test Assessments
20% Classroom Practice & Activities
80% Projects & Post-Test Assessments
The following grading system will be used on project assessments for each of the units above:
4 - Advanced (A-range)
3 - Proficient (B-range)
2 - Partially Proficient (C-range)
1 - Not Proficient (Incomplete)
* All incomplete scores become a failing score by semester’s end.
