6. Career Prep
I. Setting up a Career Cruising Account:
Step 1: Go to the Career Cruising link http://public.careercruising.com/us/en.
Step 2: Use the username saranac and the password careers to access our school's account.
Step 3: Under the EDP login choose the Create a New EDP option.
Step 4: Please complete the necessary information for the My Information box.
IMPORTANT: For the username and password, please use the same username and password you use to log into the school computers.
II. Completing the Career Cruising Program:
Step 1: Click on the assessments tab at the top left, and complete the following four assessments.
(Career Matchmaker, My Skills, Ability Profiler, & Learning Styles Inventory)
III. Complete the Personal Budget Program
Step 1: Click on the Personal Budget link.
Step 2: Type in the annual (yearly) salary of the career you have selected to see the monthly amount you will receive after taxes.
Step 3: Click on the Build a Budget tab at the bottom and begin figuring your expenses.
IV. Career Presentation
You will need to choose a career and create five Google Presentation slides on the topics listed below.
Slide 1 - Title slide
Slide 2 - Brief description/w photos and working conditions
Slide 3 - How much schooling? What is the focus of study?
Slide 4 - What are the job prospects? What is the pay/salary?
Slide 5 - Are there any related career fields?
