Length of Class: One Semester (18 Weeks)
Course Description:
Students will begin the semester learning about film history and the changes that have taken place in film over time. Students will then learn to shoot film using a variety of camera shots and angles as part of their filming technique. Students will become proficient at uploading raw footage, editing that footage using the online WeVideo program, and then exporting their final video pieces to present to the class for constructive input. In addition to film, students will be responsible for creating individual pieces for our weekly school newscast.
Typical Film Pieces:
- 10 Shot Film
- Door Scene (1 minute)
- Individual Film Pieces That Tell a Story (1 minute)
- Documentary Film (3-5 minutes)
- How-to Video (1-3 minutes)
- Newscast Pieces
Grading:
0% Pre-test Assessments
20% Participation in Classroom Activities
80% Post-test Assessments & Projects
The following grading system will be used for project assessments:
4 - Advanced (A-range)
3 - Proficient (B-range)
2 - Partially Proficient (C-range)
1 - Not Proficient (Incomplete)
* All incomplete scores become a failing score by semester’s end.
