Learning Targets - What I will know or
be able to achieve by the end of this unit:
- I can use a number of photo techniques when taking pictures.
- I can take photos from a digital camera and import them onto a computer.
- I can upload photos into an online program for photo editing.
- I can edit photos in on online photo editing program using a variety of tools and techniques.
- I can download edited photos to be placed onto a flash drive, into a presentation, or to be printed.

Part 2: Photo Techniques:
Students will be learning about the ten photo techniques listed below. If a refresher is needed on what some of these techniques are, a simple Google search should bring you plenty of examples.
- Rule of Thirds
- Macro (Close-up)
- Framing
- Space
- Perspective
- Balance
- Color
- Leading Lines
- Shadow/Reflection
- Person (Non-posing)

Part 3: Photo Editing:
After learning how to use the digital cameras, students will take a series of photos using the techniques listed above. They will then load these photos onto their computer and edit them using http://ipiccy.com/.

Part 4: Photo Portfolio:
Students will open a new presentation document in Google docs/drive and name it photo portfolio or photo presentation. Students will present 5 sets of photos (5 pre-edit and 5 post-edit), so a total of 10 slides will be needed for their presentation document. Student photos will be graded using the following criteria.
1. Each of the student's photos had a strong focal point.
2. The student used a variety of photo techniques.
3. The student's photos were of high quality.
Remember: Photo editing tools are a lot like salt. If you add a little salt to your meal, it will enhance the flavor. However, if you dump the whole container of salt on your meal, it will wreck your meal. The same goes for editing tools. Don't ruin a photo by dumping too many photo effects onto a photo.
